National Walk for Values
Human values are important to our way of life. They guide all our choices. The practice of values such as Truth, Love, Right Conduct, Peace and Non-violence create a life worth living and are at the core of New Zealand culture.
Our Nation is changing rapidly as we are confronted with common challenges such as technological advancements, global warming and other ecological and social pressures. These have an impact on us in all that we do, including at home and at work.
Values provide us with a basic security to deal with changes in and around us. All that is tolerant, caring, peaceful and unifying in our society, flow from these values.

Preschoolers lead Walk For Values
in Auckland
The inaugural Walk for Values took place in Queen Street, Auckland on Saturday 21st March 2009. More than 700 people from all over Auckland and Hamilton marched down Queen Street holding banners promoting human values.
The walk celebrates and draws attention to the importance of values, such as Love, Truth, Right Conduct, Peace and Non-violence, which are inherent in all cultures and religions.
Manoj Nathoo, spokesperson for Walk for Values, said, "Our inaugural Walk for Values was a success and has helped raise awareness about the many issues that confront our communities and the need to go back to the values that we essentially are."
"The uniqueness of the event is that it's neither a fundraiser nor a solicitation for pledges for money. It's a non-political and non-religious event open to all who wish to participate" said Manoj.
New Zealand is the fourth country to hold Walk for Values, which is now an annual event in Canada, Australia and the United States.
Photos from the day have now been posted in the gallery section of the site.

What a Walk for Values
will achieve
Human values make human life worthwhile. A worthwhile life has principles which guide our behaviour; these foster a state of being which ultimately renders a state of peace within.
All men and women are seeking this peace. |
